Sir Cyril Fox’s guide to the Ancient Monuments in the Care of the Ministry of Works in South Wales and Monmouthshire (1954) provides a window into how the work for providing guidebooks was progressing.

The only sites without guidebooks were:

  • 35 Newport Castle
  • 37 Runston Chapel
  • 41 Carew Cross
