This ‘R.A.C. Road Sign’ created by Burrow of the Kingsway in London outlines some of the key heritage sites around Dorchester, the Roman Durnovaria, including the ‘Prehistoric Camp’ at Poundbury, and the ‘Great Prehistoric Earthworks’ at Maiden Castle.
David Gill is Honorary Professor in the Centre for Heritage at the University of Kent, and Honorary Research Fellow in the School of History and an Academic Associate in SISJAC at UEA; Professor of Archaeological Heritage.

Thank you for posting this sign. I am interested in signs, but also interested in Ed J Burrow, referred to on this sign. I have been collecting Burrows guide books and printed ephemera for over 45 years but have never come across such a sign! I would love to see it in real life, is this sign on public display somewhere please?

It was in my collection of 35 mm slides photographed in the 1970s. I suspect it is no longer on display. Happy to send you a scan of the image.
